OSMS PTO Approved Minutes

SPRING BOOK FAIR TRIKE RACE
To kick off our Spring Book Fair the students were challenged to read 100,00 minutes as a school and log their minutes on the Scholastic website. The students met the challenge and were rewarded with a trike race between Mr.Rafferty, Mrs. Ryan and randomly selected students from each grade. Mr. R and Mrs. R were good sports and the kids loved it!

Subject: [Madison Info] Bicycle Safety
Sent: Mar 22, 2012 9:27 AM
Spring is here! The temperature outside is climbing everyday, and adults and children are anxiously getting their bicycles, scooters and roller-blades ready to go out riding in the sunshine. Are they wearing their helmets?
According to the Centers for Disease Control, many are not. Among the 96 million bicyclists in the United States approximately 700 deaths and 500,000 emergency room visits occur annually as a result of bicycle injuries. 62% of those deaths and 32% of the injuries involve head trauma to those riding without helmets. Wearing a helmet is an effective way to reduce the risk for head injuries.
The risk for head injuries among persons not using helmets is 4 to 6 times greater than that among persons using helmets. Although an approved bicycle helmet is mandated for children under age 12, it has been noted that fewer than 2% of U.S. children and fewer than 10% of all U.S. bicyclists wear helmets.
The Madison Health Department encourages all bicyclists and bladers - old and young - to wear a helmet whenever out riding.

Fundraising Opportunities
Parents who work for companies that have fundraising opportunities to benefit our school may request permission to advertise on our PTO WIKI with approval from Mr. Rafferty. It is not the role of our PTO to endorse any specific company. The PTO appreciates the opportunity to provide these additional fundraising opportunities.
Magazine Drive
The 2012 Magazine Drive will begin on October 3, 2012! Through online ordering, this Magazine Drive goes on all year long. Keep a magazine subscription in mind for the difficult-to-buy-for person on your list. The website is now listed as www.gaschoolstore.com/onlineportal. Please use OSMS’s account 2590693, so the school gets credit for your online order.Be sure to include your child's name if ordering during our drive so that the child gets credit toward the prizes (not necessary for order after the drive)
ADT Security Services is working to help the community meet the security and life safety concerns in protecting the things they value the most. For every ADT Security System that is purchased through this fundraising opportunity, a donation of $125 from ADT Security System will be made to the OSMS PTO. If you or anyone that you may know would like more information about ADT’s Security and Life Safety products, please contact Dana Abreu, an ADT Sales Representative, at (860)304-2254 for a free No Obligation Security Assessment.
